Local, state, federal offices closed Friday

Wayne County and local municipal offices will be closed Friday in observance of the New Year's Day holiday. State and federal offices, including the Postal Service, will be closed as well.
The Wayne County Tax Office and Register of Deeds will offer extended hours by staying open until 6 p.m. today and Thursday.
The county's landfill and convenience sites will be closed Wednesday as normal under the county's four-day work week. They will be open on Thursday and closed on Friday. They will reopen on Saturday.
Waste Industries will work on a regular schedule, including New Year's Day. Customers are reminded to place bins curbside the night before service is scheduled.
In the city of Goldsboro, all sanitation services scheduled for Friday will be serviced today.
The GATEWAY van service will operate on its normal schedule on Jan. 1. Persons requesting van service for Jan. 1, 2 and 4 must call and schedule transportation no later than 2:30 p.m. on Dec. 30.
The office staff will not be available to process reservations on Jan. 1. Persons requesting van service for Jan. 5 must call and schedule it no later than 2:30 p.m. today. The bus service schedule for Jan. 1 will be 9:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
The Friday closings will not affect garbage pickup in Fremont or Pikeville. However, bulk pickup in Fremont will be conducted on Thursday instead of Friday.
In Mount Olive, garbage will be picked up as usual on Thursday for the west side of town. Friday's collection will be held on Saturday instead.
Town halls in Calypso and Faison will be closed as well on Friday. There will be no interruption of garbage pickup in the two Duplin County towns.
