Teen found dead

A 19-year-old Slaughter Street man was found dead at his home Sunday by a 37-year-old woman who lives with him, according to a police report. Jamil McKenzie, 19, was found at 1113 Slaughter Street around 11 a.m. on Sunday, police said. Emergency medical technicians with EMS Unit No. 61 responded and personnel "found no pulse and no signs of life," according to the police report. Investigation into the incident is continuing, Goldsboro police said. Police said it was "unknown" whether McKenzie had been using drugs or alcohol, according to the report.

Abandoned residence fire

An abandoned residence at 418 Antioch Road, in the Musgrave Crossroads community, was destroyed in a fire on Sunday, according to a Wayne County Sheriff's Office report. Investigator Shawn Harris has been assigned to investigate the cause of the fire, which almost completely leveled the wood frame house, authorities said.
