A campaign to collect coats for Wayne County children who do not own cold weather coats has been started by a local women's motorcycle club.

Operation Warm Up Wayne was initiated by the X'haust Angels.

Club president, Angela Wright, had conversations with several teachers in Wayne county and found that they were many that told her that they had many children coming in the morning without coats.

She noted that several organizations that normally conduct such coat drives are not doing them this year.

Wright said that having access to the motorcycle community allowed her the opportunity to get people involved to help.

Several other clubs: the R Riders, the Red Liners, I Refuse Riders and Hit Squad also are involved getting donations and purchasing coats.

The collected coats will be donated to inner city youth on Dec. 5.

New and gently used coats are being asked for and donors are asked to make sure the coats are clean.

Several drop-off points will be available for those who would like to help.

Coats will be collected until Dec .3.
