Man wanted in connection with teen's rape

Authorities are searching for a Goldsboro man accused of raping a 16-year-old early Saturday morning, a Wayne County Sheriff's Office detective said.
Carlos Reshaen "Shawn" Wright, 34, last known to live on Edgerton Street, faces charges of first-degree kidnapping, second-degree rape and second-degree sex offense, Detective Sgt. Rick Farfour said.
The alleged assault took place early Saturday morning at the home of the victim on Beaver Drive, according to Sheriff's Office records.
Farfour said he could not reveal how Wright came to be at the home of the 16-year-old on Saturday, when authorities were called to Wayne Memorial Hospital.
The incident report indicates the girl did not know her alleged attacker.
According to a police report, the victim's mother brought the girl to the hospital when she learned of the assault after 3 a.m. on Saturday.
After investigating the allegations, Farfour secured warrants against Wright, he said.
The first-degree kidnapping charge stems from the girl being held against her will, the detective sergeant said.
"If somebody goes to get away and you don't let them, and a sexual assault occurs, that's first-degree kidnapping," Farfour said.
Wright has a prior criminal history, according to state Department of Correction records.
The 34-year-old was incarcerated for about one month on a charge of assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury, corrections records show.
He also served approximately five years, beginning in 1993 and ending in 1998, for another charge of assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury, records show.
Wright has also been convicted of possession with intent to sell or deliver a Schedule II drug and other minor offenses, records show.
Wright is described as 5 feet 10 inches tall, about 185 pounds and has a tattoo of two faces on his left arm, along with the words "Carlos," "Ebony" and "Carlos and Kia," according to detectives.

According to state law, second-degree rape is a Class C felony.
Defendants convicted of a Class C felony face between more than 3-1/2 years to as much as 17-1/2 years in prison, depending on prior criminal records.
Second-degree rape is defined as forceful vaginal intercourse against the will of the victim, according to state law.
