An H1N1 flu clinic is scheduled for Saturday at the Wayne County Health Department from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

The H1N1 shot and H1N1 mist will be available at no cost.

The clinic is targeting high risk groups considered most vulnerable to the H1N1 influenza virus. These include pregnant women, caretakers of infants less than 6 months old, health care workers, children and adults with such health conditions as asthma or diabetes, and anyone under the age of 25.

Although the clinic will be open to anyone, health officials have been encouraged to immunize those at highest risk promptly.

No appointment is necessary, but to promote faster processing, an alphabetized system is recommended. Individuals are requested to report according to the following schedule, by the first letter of the last name: A-J from 7:30 to 10 a.m.; K-R from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.; and S-Z from 12:30-2:30 p.m.

Handicapped individuals who are non-ambulatory will be able to remain in their vehicle to receive the flu vaccine. Drive-up parking will be available on the Simmons Street side of the Health Department. A friend or family member will first need to register non-ambulatory individuals inside the building. Other parking will be available on the front side (Herman Street) and back side (Lionel Street) of the County Office Building and individuals may enter from either the front or back entrance.
