Halloween will come twice this year for those children who attend "Boo It" in downtown Goldsboro Friday evening.

The annual Downtown Goldsboro Development Corp. event, set to run from 4 to 5 p.m. at Cornerstone Commons, will offer pumpkin painting, games, hay rides, fortune telling and more to those who turn out.

And at the end of the festivities, children will get the chance to trick or treat at more than 50 downtown businesses. The DGDC has purchased and dispersed thousands of dollars worth of candy to participating merchants.

Traditional trick-or-treating will take place the following evening. Mayor Al King said the city will recognize Halloween beginning at 5 p.m. Saturday, but urged parents to have their children refrain from going door to door after 8 p.m.
