TRACKS TO BE REPLACED: Corey Lyden, left, and Marion Bradford, Goldsboro Parks and Recreation maintenance supervisor, work on digging up a section of track at the Kiwanis Train at Herman Park on Tuesday afternoon. The Kiwanis Club of Goldsboro is replacing the entire 900 feet of track, including rails and crossties, after the state Department of Labor said they posed safety concerns. The club, which has operated the miniature train for 54 years, is paying for the project, which is expected to cost about $25,000. Crews from the city's Parks and Recreation Department are helping with the work, which is expected to take about a month to complete. The train runs from April through September and has been a huge draw for thousands of youngsters from Wayne and surrounding counties for decades.
