Beginning today, residents will face new state bans on wooden pallets, oil filters and plastic bottles at the county landfill.
Residents should sort their plastic bottles by number, which typically can be found on the bottom of your bottle, usually in a triangle.
* No. 1 plastics, including soda bottles: Should be placed in one container for recycling.
* No. 2 through No. 7 plastics, including milk and laundry detergent jugs, pill bottles, antifreeze containers and all others: Should be placed in a container for recycling separate from the No. 1s.
* Pesticide containers: Two bins have been set up for farmers at the Patetown and Grantham convenience sites. A third site is located at the Dudley landfill.
* Wooden pallets that have been used in construction such as those on which bricks and shingles have been stacked: Take to the construction and demolition area at the landfill.
