Man shot

An East Elm Street man was shot in the shoulder during an apparent armed robbery at his home, according to Goldsboro police reports. Dionco Hamilton was treated for injuries at Wayne Memorial Hospital after the shooting around 3:30 a.m. on Monday, police said. Hamilton said that he went to his back yard, where his friend Melvin Hinnant of Dudley was standing with two black males he did not know, the report shows. One of the suspects allegedly told Hamilton "don't move," and when Hamilton tried to run back into his house, one of the suspects shot him in the back of his upper right shoulder, the report shows. Investigator Dwayne Bevell is investigating, police said. Anyone with information about the case is asked to call the Crime Stoppers hotline at 735-2255.
