Dial-A-Teacher, a free homework help hotline, has resumed operation for the 2009-10 school year.

This service, sponsored by the Wayne County Public Library, Friends of the Library and Wayne County Public Schools, has been available to students in need of homework help for the last 26 years.

During the 2008-09 school year it served approximately 1,365 calls, averaging 11 calls a night. Helping students are certified teachers and retired certified teachers. The majority of the calls are students with questions about language arts and math assignments.

"It is very popular," said Jane Rustin, director of the Wayne County Public Library. "It's a nice homework assistance"

The program's hours of operation are Monday through Thursday, 5 to 8 p.m.

For homework help, call 735-1990.
