Police car flips in accident
A police car partially turned on its side after an accident on East Ash Street in Goldsboro on Sunday night, according to a Highway Patrol investigation into the incident. Highway Patrol First Sgt. Jerry Burton said that officer T.A. Christie received a call to assist another officer. With blue lights and siren engaged, Christie encountered Thomas Jones of Goldsboro, who was driving a 1998 pickup in the left lane on William Street. While headed eastbound on Ash Street near William Street. Christie reported Jones tried to switch from the left lane into his lane of travel, causing the officer to swerve, Burton said. That caused Christie to swerve, and he lost control of his vehicle, eventually striking a curb and causing the Crown Vic to partially overturn, police Chief Tim Bell said. A damage estimate was not immediately available. No charges have been filed in the incident, the Highway Patrol first sergeant said.
Pizza deliverer robbed
A pizza delivery man told police he was robbed at gunpoint early Sunday morning on the 1100 block of North Jefferson Street by two black males who displayed handguns and stole his cash and cell phone, according to a report.
