A Fayetteville man was charged Tuesday by Goldsboro police with allegedly exposing himself to a woman at Berkeley Mall.
Jason Maurice Williams, 31, of South Ridge Road in Fayette-ville, was seen leaving a restroom near a rear entrance of the mall, Officer Daniel Broughton said. He then was seen standing by the back entrance windows, the officer said.
While standing at the windows, he was looking at a woman who was outside taking a smoke break, the officer said.
The woman told police that Williams' genitals were exposed as he stared at her through the windows, leading her to call mall security.
That set off a chase between security guards and the suspect, beginning at a women's clothing store and ending in Belk's Department Store, police said.
When officers interviewed Williams about the incident, he denied having exposed himself. But the witness was adamant.
Williams faced one count of indecent exposure, and was jailed under a $500 secured bond.
