However, to help him do so Williford is appealing for the public's help in two ways -- by providing information and photos and through financial assistance.
Like his first book, Williford said his next project will not be a moneymaker either, but rather a way to tell and preserve the history of the Grantham community.
Williford said he is in need of photos from the era covered by the book. He is particularly interested in photos from any newspaper since they would reproduce better than ones reproduced from microfilm.
He is interested as well in wedding or engagement photos.
"I especially need all sports-related photographs," he said. "Please include the names of the people in the photo. Baseball teams of those years are virtually impossible to find -- if you have one send it.
"I desperately need group photographs of graduating classes with identification."
Williford said he also is interested in yearbooks for Grantham High School. The yearbooks, he said, should not be mailed.
People living in North Carolina may contact Williford at (919) 734-7507 and he will make arrangements to pick the yearbooks up.
