Armed robbery
A Lee's Country Club Road man said he was assaulted and robbed in his home Thursday by three unknown suspects who held him and an 88-year-old woman at gunpoint, according to a report. Elbert Overton, 53, told the Wayne County Sheriff's Office that three unknown black males knocked on his door just before midnight on Thursday. Overton said one subject struck him in the face, knocking him to the ground, the report shows. Overton said that he and Martha Overton, 88, who lives with him, were held at gunpoint by one of the three men as the other two ransacked the home, authorities said. The unknown black males took $600 cash and an undetermined number of handguns, according to the report. The three suspects left in a white vehicle after the robbery, according to the report.
Oil tank theft
Kenneth Lewallen of Fremont reported Thursday afternoon that a 250-gallon oil tank had been stolen from the rear of Sandra Mooring's Cassedale Drive residence, according to a Goldsboro police report. The stand holding the oil tank, worth an estimated $200, had been knocked over, police said.
