No one was seriously injured in a crash between a motorcycle and Honda Accord on Patetown Road on Monday afternoon, authorities said.

Both passengers of the motorcycle were thrown from the bike, but survived the accident and were being treated at Wayne Memorial Hospital for minor injuries, Trooper J.B. Wiggs said.

Wiggs said he charged the Accord's driver, James Ray Farmer, 19, with failure to yield for a stop sign.

Michael Sawyer, 47, of Tinderwood Drive and Katrina Pearce, 30, of Dudley, were riding the motorcycle southbound on Patetown, the trooper said.

Farmer and passenger Rian Floyd, 18, of Vail Road, Pikeville, were waiting at a stop sign at the intersection of Patetown and Stoney Creek Church roads, Wiggs said.

The trooper said Farmer pulled out in front of the motorcycle, which he estimates was traveling 55 mph in an area with a posted speed limit of 45 mph.

"The Honda failed to yield the right of way, and it pulled out in front of the motorcycle," Wiggs said.

After the impact both vehicles stayed in the intersection of Patetown Road, Wiggs said, and Ms. Pearce was thrown over Farmer,

"They (Sawyer and Ms. Pearce) were both separated from the motorcycle," Wiggs said. "(Ms. Wiggs) ... was actually thrown over the Honda, by witness accounts. She also came to rest in the intersection.
