Teacher jumped
John Elbert Twitty, 49, a teacher at Brogden Middle School reported that he was assaulted by a 13-year-old student Friday when he tried to break up a fight.
According to the report, one of the students jumped on Twitty's back when he stepped between the two students fighting.
Safe robbed
Sam Jernigan of Jernigan's Furniture Store on Ash Street reported that someone got into the store's safe without permission.
He reported that $10,246 in cash and checks had been removed.
Investigations
Wayne County law enforcement officers are investigating these reports:
*Georgett B. Guidroz of Courtyard Circle told police Friday that someone broke into her house and stole $430 worth of guns. Taken were two 9-mm semi-automatics and a .22 caliber semi-automatic.
*Phillip Ray Cox of Claiborne Street reported a trailer full of equipment was taken from his carport sometime on Friday. Taken were a push mower, a weed trimmer, a leaf blower, a riding mower, along with the trailer. The equipment was valued at about $2,000, and the trailer was worth $500.
*Larry Bizzell of Prince Avenue reported $200 worth of damage to his car after hitting a pothole on a city street. Bizzell was driving his 1998 Chevrolet Camaro when he hit the pothole on Andrews Avenue near Pine Street, he said.
