Thaw already: Snow was fun -- for a while -- but we're ready to warm up a little

If you have never spent any length of time in a colder climate, it might surprise you to find 45 degrees a warm temperature.

Well, it is today. A welcome one, at that. Our knuckles, knees, backs, ankles and elbows had just about had it.

Hopefully the remaining ice and snow gets chased away with the frigidity in the air and we can get back to business as usual around town.

It's hard enough to put out a newspaper when most offices are closed and school is not in session, forget about finding things to do around the house when it is (or feels like, according to the weather app on our phones) 3 degrees outside.

A trip to the mailbox can quickly morph into a series of outtakes from a failed Ice Capades if one isn't careful.

Anyhow, there will be plenty to dive into as the Goldsboro City Council resumes business this evening and state and federal policy makers get back to work this week.

The snow was fun while it lasted, but like a holiday visit where the in-laws come to town, it lasted too long.
