The dance floor: Nobody puts education in a corner

There is nothing dirty about asking some of Wayne County's more prominent figures to dance, not when it is for a charitable cause.

The annual Dancing Stars of Wayne County fundraiser is back and with an all new cast of "contestants."

Some come from the education field, others are professionals from the area, but all of them are brave souls for even considering participating. Better still, some slots are still open.

The event is based on the popular TV show "Dancing with the Stars," and proceeds go to programs backed by the Wayne County Chamber of Commerce and the Wayne Education Network. Students, teachers and programs each benefit from the money raised, and if that isn't enough, the community gets to laugh with and cheer on the dancers as they put their best -- hopefully not two left -- feet forward on stage at the Paramount Theatre in November.

We hope you will vote and purchase a ticket to support your favorite dancer.

We've been to each of the previous years' shows -- we even had one of our own, Phyllis Moore, grace the stage -- and we can tell you the show is worth the price of admission.
