Disappointing: GOP failure to repeal Obamacare comes as major setback to party

The Republican failure to find a way to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act comes as a disappointment to many.

Including us.

The fact that the GOP cannot come together to get enough votes to change the onerous law is a cause of concern to millions of people who find Obamacare not a viable system for the distribution of health care in this country.

But a handful of Republican senators who said they planned to vote no on the proposed legislation was all that was needed to scuttle the Republican hopes.

GOP leaders have promised for years to repeal the health care law, which many Americans find oppressive. But they were unable to come up with an alternative plan that would garner the support of a majority in the Senate, and the measure died en route to the operating table.

Senate leader Mitch McConnell has promised another try at repealing the law, but it doesn't seem now like there is much of a chance of it happening. That is regrettable, and many of us will pay the price for the party's inability to come together and fulfill its vow.
