Grow up: The president's tweets are unbecoming of his office

President Donald Trump on Sunday tweeted a mock video that shows him beating up on a man in a business suit -- his face obscured by the CNN logo -- outside a wrestling ring.

It's not clear who produced the video, but it was posted from Trump's official Twitter account.

The president's tweets have become a national embarrassment. His supporters brush off his boorish behavior, but they are not concerned with the dignity of the office of president.

We are. Not because of who is holding the office but because we feel as if the leader of our country should behave in an adult, statesmanlike manner. He should, like presidents before him, be thick-skinned enough to withstand the inevitable criticism of the media without stooping to the sophomoric level.

Trump's propensity to attack others via tweet is like a teenager who uses his smartphone as a way to get back at others. We supported him in his bid for the White House, but we expected him to grow up a little when he got there.
