New judges sworn in: Will Bland and Curtis Stackhouse will uphold the law fairly

Wayne County had two new judges sworn into office on Tuesday, and the county is fortunate that Will Bland and Curtis Stackhouse have taken their seats on the bench.

Bland is the new superior court judge for the county, and Stackhouse is a new district court judge for Wayne, Greene and Lenoir counties. Both are men of impeccable character, and we believe they will uphold the law with great distinction.

The role of a judge in society cannot be overestimated. The men and women who wear those black robes are the final say in how the law is administered. Our system of democracy depends on the honesty and fairness of the people who sit in judgment of others. Both Bland and Stackhouse have earned the respect of their peers and the public and will no doubt carry out their duties with great responsibility and fairness.

We have great confidence in both men. They have proved their ability in the courtroom over the course of their careers, and it gives us great comfort to know that the outstanding integrity of both will be at work in our legal system.
