McCrory: Is soon-to-be former governor in the running for Cabinet post?

North Carolina Gov. Pat McCrory met privately this week with President-elect Donald Trump, and since McCrory will soon be out of a job and Trump is in the middle of interviewing candidates for positions in his Cabinet, rumors are widespread that the one-term governor could be in line to become a member of Trump's Cabinet.

Neither McCrory nor Trump has said what they talked about, but it certainly is a possibility.

McCrory proved his ability as a leader during his four years in Raleigh and his tenure as mayor of Charlotte. Trump has already appointed South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley as his choice for ambassador to the United Nations, and the fact that McCrory helped Trump carry North Carolina doesn't hurt McCrory's chances, either.

Members of Trump's inner circle said McCrory's record on economic issues, along with his experience in energy matters and transportation, had been noticed by Trump.

McCrory, in our opinion, would be a good choice for a role in any of these fields. Jobs in the Trump administration that might be a good fit could be in the Department of Energy, the Department of Transportation or the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
