GOP in charge: Republican Party will have no excuses now

The Republican Party will soon be in control of the White House and both chambers of Congress. It earned the right by way of voters' choosing to turn their backs on eight years of Barack Obama and the Democratic Party largely calling the shots.

But now the GOP will have to show that it rightly earned the public's trust. The party may be celebrating now but it soon will have to prove that it can and will govern effectively.

The American public clearly showed that it is ready for change and unless the Republicans can bring about change for the better, the public will turn away from GOP policies and look elsewhere for leadership. That is the American way.

The election of Donald Trump to the presidency carries great opportunities for change, but it also comes with many risks.

It will not be an easy road. But it is one the Republicans fought long and hard to achieve. We hope they make the most of the opportunity.
