Abortion: The real reason Christians are standing behind Trump

We have been puzzled at times by some of the support Donald Trump has received from Christian voters. After all, he has said and done many things that are obviously contrary to Christian values. He is a thrice-married casino owner who has been caught on videotape making lewd comments about women.

But many Christians are willing to look past those faults because Trump is a conservative who is willing to appoint people to the Supreme Court who might be willing to vote against Roe v. Wade, the 1973 high court decision that made abortion legal nationwide.

As far as the Christian right is concerned, legal abortion amounts to nothing more than the murder of innocents, and they would cast their ballots for any candidate who offers the hope of overturning Roe v. Wade.

Hillary Clinton is an outspoken proponent of pro-choice, meaning she supports a woman's right to have an abortion. She has vowed to appoint justices who would uphold the Roe v. Wade ruling, saying, "We have come too far to have that turned back now."

That is the basic reason Christians are willing to support Trump. He may not be their ideal candidate, but on this one key issue he stands with them.
