Trump on the stump: Candidate delights rowdy crowd in Duplin County

Donald Trump came to Duplin County on Tuesday, and he did not disappoint the thousands of supporters who turned out to hear his message.

Trump promised the largely white crowd that he would bring back jobs from overseas, tighten border security and improve safety both at home and abroad.

Amid shouts of "Trump!" "Trump!" he told the audience at the Duplin Events Center that America is on the wrong path and that only by electing him as president will it find its way again.

He vowed to appoint Supreme Court justices who would make decisions based on a basic understanding of the Constitution and said he would build a security wall between the United States and Mexico and restrict the flow of illegal immigrants into this country.

His speech was peppered with references to his opponent, Hillary Clinton, and President Barack Obama, and said that the latter has set the country back and that Clinton would only continue his programs.

All in all, it was vintage Trump, and the faithful ate it up. Whether he will get a chance to prove he can be the president he promises he can be will be determined in the next two months. But if his appearance in Kenansville is any indicator, he poses a serious threat to Clinton and the "establishment."
