Leadership role: John Bell is making his mark in Raleigh

Republican John Bell of Goldsboro has been elected the new majority leader in the state House of Representatives.

It is a good thing for all of Wayne County to have a representative in such a position of power.

Bell is only in his second term in the legislature, but he has served for the past term as the majority whip in the House, and that has allowed him to pick up valuable experience as well as earn the obvious respect of his peers.

Bell was modest in his acceptance of his new post, saying that he is honored to have been selected for the job. He vowed to work hard in his new leadership role and proved the point by immediately taking to the campaign trail to help another Republican campaign for office.

Bell's appointment to fill out the unexpired term of Rep. Mike Hager is only temporary. He still has to win back his seat in November. Wayne voters should see to it that he is returned to office. He can do big things for the county if we see to it that he keeps his seat.
