Friday night: Crime Stoppers fundraiser is important event for community

Friday night there will be a gospel sing and comedy night fundraiser at St. Paul United Methodist Church on Chestnut Street to raise money for the Goldsboro-Wayne County Crime Stoppers organization.

We hope to see you there.

Crime Stoppers has proven to be a valuable tool for local law enforcement in solving crimes. Callers to the agency can remain anonymous while providing information that can often open leads for investigators of robberies and shootings, as well as other crimes. Rewards are offered for information that leads to convictions.

In this day and time, when crime seems to be running rampant in our city and county, the organization has never been more important.

That is why it is vital that this event is a success. The money raised will go directly toward providing those rewards that are incentives for people with information about crimes to come forward.

So do yourself and your community a favor. Come out and enjoy an evening of song and mirth and open your wallet when the love offering is taken.

You'll be making Goldsboro and Wayne County a better place in which to live.
