Tough job: Republican vice presidential candidate has his work cut out

You have to admire Mike Pence. The Republican candidate for vice president not only has to maintain his own campaign, he has to work damage control for his running mate Donald Trump.

And Trump has not been making that job easy as of late, what with his controversial comments.

Pence, the low-key Indiana governor, is a true conservative with strong beliefs in God and country that made him a good choice for the No. 2 spot on the GOP ticket.

He has riled some in his home state with his stance on religious matters, but those same core beliefs have made him a favorite of the national evangelical right and helped strengthen the Trump campaign at a crucial time.

With Trump currently struggling in the polls, some people believe Pence might have tied his wagon to a falling star. We disagree. Pence's integrity and proven record as a conservative will carry him through this election and quite possibly to bigger things in the future.
