Pence: Trump chose wisely in picking his running mate

Donald Trump did both himself and the American people a favor when he chose Indiana governor Mike Pence as his running mate.

Pence is a down-to-earth man with strong Christian principles and a solid track record as governor of Indiana.

He can only help the Republican ticket in the November election.

Pence said the American people are tired of politicians in Washington who promise they will fix problems and then do little or nothing to actually address them. He is right. The fact that Trump has won the nomination at all speaks to the public's weariness with "business as usual" politics.

Trump unabashedly said he chose Pence over bigger names as a way to help unite a fractured GOP. With the national convention beginning today, it came none too soon. His presence on the ticket could go a long way toward easing the concerns of voters who see Trump as a wild card candidate.
