Not again: Removal of party chairman latest in bad breaks for GOP

The Republican Party, especially in North Carolina, simply cannot buy a break.

With all the hoopla over House Bill 2 and the backlash the law concerning restroom use has caused still swirling about, the GOP was forced this past weekend to fire its chairman for what amounted to misbehavior in office.

This does not help at all during a year when the national party is struggling to choose the right candidate to keep Hillary Clinton out of the White House and the state party is working to keep Pat McCrory in the governor's mansion.

Hasan Harnett was found to have violated the state party's governing rules and committing acts of what was termed "gross inefficiency," by party officials.

Harnett, who is black, cried racism, but it did him no good with party leaders fed up with his shenanigans.

God only knows what will happen next. But Republicans definitely need to rally if they hope to avoid a disastrous November.
