A rare breed: Goldsboro and all of North Carolina suffer the loss of Lindsay Warren

They couldn't say enough good things about him.

Every person contacted by The News-Argus last week about the death of attorney Lindsay Warren praised him as a man of great intelligence, wit, character and faith.

"We have lost another great North Carolina statesman," said close friend Ed Borden.

Warren was the son of Lindsay Carter Warren, himself a great statesman, and, as they say, the acorn doesn't fall far from the tree.

Warren was a lawyer's lawyer, one other attorneys sought out for advice.

A state senator for a time, he also was a lover of history, especially North Carolina history, and served his state in that capacity when he was called upon the lead the commemoration of its 400th anniversary.

The occasion called for a trip to England, and Warren certainly enjoyed that part of it. He loved to travel, friends and family said.

He has now made his final journey. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
