Bullish on America: Sen. Burr's recipe for prosperity is achievable if we have the will to do it

Sen. Richard Burr was in Goldsboro this week, speaking to a group of Rotarians and local leaders.

His message was clear: The United States must reduce its tax burden on corporations in order to attract investment. If it does, it can drastically affect the future economy of the country for the better and ensure a prosperous future for our children and grandchildren.

By cutting corporate taxes, the nation can become more attractive to foreign investment and become, in his words, the "800-pound gorilla" of the world economy.

Burr also mentioned the $17 trillion national debt that could be whittled down should such tax cuts be enacted. And they also would stimulate stateside investment and lead to the creation of jobs.

Burr cautioned that the U.S. must keep up with advances in technology and education to be sure that our work force is ready to take on such a challenge.

But he was bullish on his outlook for America, and we should be, too.
