Not too late: There is still time to give to the Empty Stocking Fund

We wish you could have been there.

Been there to see the radiant faces on the children at the annual Empty Stocking Fund party. Been there to hear the squeals of delight as they picked out a favorite toy. Been there to see the grateful faces of their parents as volunteers handed out boxes of clothing.

It would have warmed the heart of any Scrooge.

And you made it happen.

Your donations to the fund over the past few weeks brought sunshine into what could have been a dark holiday for many children.

The party is now over. But donations are still needed to defray the cost of buying clothing and toys for the hundreds of children who were on the receiving end of Santa's generosity.

It takes a lot of money to put on the party, and the bills have not all been paid. But every year for more than a hundred years, the people of Wayne County have come through with enough donations to carry the lion's share of the load, and we fully expect it to happen again.

So if you are one of the ones who have already given, thanks from the bottom of our hearts. Take our word for it, your gift was appreciated. And if you haven't given yet, please consider making a donation. There is still time to be part of the blessing.
