Little heroes: Children of deployed airmen carry very large load

It is not easy to understand when you are a little one that your mom or dad has to be away.

It is not easy to share school news and sports scores over Skype.

And it is even harder to need to talk to your mom or dad about something that scares or worries you over a phone line.

But that is what military children deal with every day.

So this message is for all of them.

You are heroes, too.

Sharing your mom or dad -- and sometimes both -- is a real sacrifice, and we know that it is one you are making for all of us.

So, we like to see your stories when your parents come home, and we want you to know that we are tearing up and cheering, too.

Thank you for being brave and for helping your mom or dad deal with stuff at home while your other parent is away.

We know you make them very proud.

And, also, a special note to Jada, Bria and Elijah Peters -- we are glad your mommy is home, too.
