Early voting: Get ready -- it's time to narrow the mayoral field

Anyone who lives in the city of Goldsboro should take note.

In a couple of weeks, the first ballots will be available to help you narrow down the field in the race for the city's new chief executive.

The primary vote, which will be held the first week of October, will pit four men in a battle to come up with two candidates to run on the November ballot. And you can begin casting your early votes Sept. 24.

And, by the way, it is important that you do.

This message is not about the candidates who are running -- although knowing who they are and what they are promising to do if elected mayor is important, too.

Over the next couple of weeks you will read more about them and we will bring you their answers to what we think are some of the most important questions facing Goldsboro.

But the bottom line is: You need to make your voice hear -- whomever you choose.

Goldsboro is facing some very key decisions over the next couple years -- and they are crucial to the future of this community.

Who will lead the city into that new reality is a very, very important vote. And it is up to all of us to make sure that choice is the right one.

So don't let your chance pass to be a part of determining your future.

Get informed and then get out and vote.
