Here's Kanye: If you think Donald Trump is scary, just wait until 2020

Just when you thought it was safe to think about the future of your country, bam, you hear the announcement at the MTV Video Music Awards.

That's right, Kanye West is running for president ... in 2020.

The good news is that 2020 is a long time away, so by then, the music man with an ego roughly the size of North America will have moved on to some other conquest.

Or, at least that is what we should hope will happen.

Aside from the fact that Kanye West has perhaps what can be termed loosely as a "high opinion of himself," he is about as qualified to be president as, well, just about any of the rest of us.

The bottom line is, he thinks he could rule the free world because lots of people kiss his ring and tell him how wonderful he is. And he actually believes his own press.

It is a publicity stunt, sure, but it is a sign that just about anyone can throw their hat into the ring these days.

Ahhh, democracy.
