Good team: Eastern North Carolina 'lucky in legislators'

You won't read our coverage of this morning's Wayne County Chamber of Commerce's Eggs and Issues breakfast with the state legislators until Sunday.

There was just too much to digest and to report before our deadline.

But when you read it, we hope you will think the same thoughts we have when it comes to the men who represent this county in Raleigh.

Boy did we get lucky.

Now, don't think that they always agree. These representatives have their own minds and their own views -- and they fight for them.

But there is one fact upon which they all agree -- eastern North Carolina is stronger when its delegation sticks together and works for the benefit of the entire region.

And that is what they have pledged to do.

There are some big issues in North Carolina these days -- from education, Medicaid and transportation to taxes and debt.

And as those discussions continue, it is critical that this county have strong voices to make sure those in Raleigh remember that there is more to this state than the big cities.

Listening to the state's delegation Friday, it looks like we have those voices -- loud and clear.
