Investment: Positioning community best plan for all of us

Bottom line is: You have to spend money to make money.

And there is no truer place to see what spending money just might be able to do than Wayne County.

With the recent rush of investment in everything from businesses to restaurants, it is clear that someone somewhere thinks there is reason to believe in the possibilities here.

And we should, too.

Continuing to create infrastructure that will attract investment as well as to improve the living conditions of residents in general are the keys to a bright future for Wayne County.

And there are plenty examples around the state of the positives and the negatives of deciding for or against spending money to improve a community's prospects.

There is still much work to do. We need a new jail, and there are more schools that need serious work.

Some of those plans are already in the works.

But as we move forward, we need to think as a community about the opportunity costs of letting money sit and letting the needs of our community languish.

No question about it. This is a community on the rise. All we have to do now is do the work to make sure that star continues to shine.
