Up they go ... There is a mystery to rising gas prices

It is not worthy of much comment, but does it surprise anyone else that gas prices are on their way back up again?

Of course, Memorial Day is a week away -- as is the official start of the summer travel season -- but still, why more than 10 cents -- nearly 20 -- and why now?

Perhaps someday, someone will be able to unravel the conundrum that is gas price ebbs and flows.

But until then the driving public will just have to remain flummoxed -- and annoyed -- as the prices seem to never be able to hold steady or to decrease regularly for very long.

Maybe we ought to insist that someone come up with a real explanation -- and a possible solution.

You can bet he (or she) would have no trouble being elected president.
