Je suis Charlie: Hollywood takes stand on Freedom of Speech

There are many people mouthing the words that are resonating across the world after last week's Paris attacks.

But do those who chant, "Je suis Charlie," really know what they are saying?

And even during last night's Golden Globes broadcast, several stars, including the illustrious George Clooney, made mention of the expression of solidarity against oppression of expression.

But one has to wonder as he or she listens to the wild applause and sees the teary-eyed stars whether they really understand what they are saying -- and what they witnessed last week.

The truth is that the satirical newspaper that was attacked was publishing commentary on radical Islam -- and how terrorism factors into the religion itself.

The attack in Paris was not about freedom of speech -- and that is not why those men carried out that brutal attack.

It was about infidels and religion.

So while it is nice to see Hollywood stand up for free speech, that is not what the Paris attacks were really about.

And until we understand that, we can do nothing about the real cause of those lost lives.
