Helping hands: Chili cookoff just a start in helping feed the hungry

There are Wayne County families who every day do not know if they will be able to eat lunch or dinner.

This past weekend, many county residents put their chili hats on to help the Community Soup Kitchen make sure they have somewhere to go for a hot meal.

But although the community stepped up to help out Saturday, there is still plenty of work to be done -- especially with the holidays right around the corner.

If you can, donate canned goods, non-perishable food items or money to one of the local food banks or the Soup Kitchen.

The need is great and the supplies are limited.

Even a small donation will help.

You really will make a difference.
