Fake outrage: Showing identification not even close to unreasonable request

Raise your hand if you are absolutely and without a doubt tired of hearing that requiring someone to show photo identification is an unreasonable requirement to impose on a potential voter.

Raise the other hand if you are tired of people who simply use the appearance of discrimination as a call to arms instead of really getting out there and working on making the world a better place.

Enough is enough -- and we are hoping that this community and many others like it are too smart to fall for this ploy, which is nothing more than a political spin job.

It is virtually impossible to do anything in this day and age without identification. You have to have it to fly, to pick up medicine, to cash a check, to make some purchases and to claim government benefits.

To say that it is too much to ask to ask people who want to cast ballots to get themselves a photo identification card is ridiculous.

And, by the way, special cards are available all over the state for free for those few who do not already have one.

There are issues that this country should be discussing -- poverty, jobs, education, health care, the nation's defense.

This is nothing but a chance to create a free pathway to misuse of a right that should be respected and cherished.

And it is politics at its finest.

Do not fall for it.
