The strategy: President is expected to offer his views on ISIS

There will be another speech to the nation this week -- and it should be watched very closely.

President Barack Obama is expected to outline his strategy for getting rid of the threat from the Islamic militant group ISIS.

His verbage is expected to be strong, with some indication also that he has recruited other nations to join the fight.

We will see what he says.

What concerns most of those who are watching the president's posture and his commentary about the Middle East is that he has not yet abandoned his theory that a war in the region can be won with negotiations and honoring Muslim religious holidays. Critics also say that he has not abandoned the theory that what he sees as the U.S.'s vile, imperialistic tendencies are the reason for the problems in the first place.

Let's hope they are wrong.

Dealing with terrorists is no easy feat. They do not play by the same rules as civilized nations. The old tricks of peace and understanding just don't work.

But it is a critical step that we take now -- one that could deeply affect the future of our children.

So this week's words matter -- and we should listen with an open, yet discerning, ear.
