Truth telling? Campaign blitz is nothing but chance to dodge real issue

She's everywhere.

Hard to believe, but the once-elusive Sen. Kay Hagan is very visible all over North Carolina.

Now, don't get too excited. She is not actually in eastern North Carolina, but she is on television commercials all over the state.

The message? That she is for the people of North Carolina and that she has been a key player in bringing jobs to and keeping jobs in the state, not to mention a champion of the state's military installations.

Why is she touting this message? Easy. The incumbent senator has a big problem -- something called Obamacare.

The truth is that when she faced overwhelming dissent about the program from her constituents, Hagan decided it was more important to back her Washington Democratic bosses.

All the while, of course, she promised that this would be a good move for the state and echoed the false claim that North Carolinians would be able to keep their doctors.

So, now that she can't run on that, all of a sudden Hagan is a pillar of economic development and the state's biggest champion.

Nothing makes political campaigns more sickening than these sanitized, spin ads. They are nothing to base an opinion on, let alone a vote.

Evaluate Hagan -- or any candidate -- based not on these big-money-backed ads, but on performance.

If you do that, those flashy commercials might seem more like political spin than political truth.
