Stop talking: National security adviser is woefully uninformed

Susan Rice is back in the news -- again for what she did not seem to know or somebody simply forgot to tell her.

The national security adviser -- rescued by President Barack Obama after spouting a bunch of hooey after the Benghazi incident -- has just stuck her foot in her mouth again.

This time, she proclaimed that U.S. soldier Bowe Bergdahl served his country with "honor and distinction."

Perhaps Ms. Rice does not read or does not have a television. Or maybe she simply has the worst predilection for putting her foot in her mouth of any Washington official ever.

Even if she does not believe the calls from Bergdahl's comrades in arms that he deserted his post, or even if she thinks that it does not matter, to describe Bergdahl in this manner is simply ill-advised and really, wrong.

How could this woman continue not to know the most important information or how to handle herself in public and still be the national security adviser?

The spin has started of course -- accompanied by the release of "here is what I meant to say."

But the bottom line is more than a little disturbing: How could there be so many breaches that seem to suggest Ms. Rice is not in the loop or that someone is telling her what to say?

It is just another mystery in the quagmire that has become the Obama administration's foreign policy -- and another reason to wonder about the veracity of anything that comes out of a Washington official's mouth these days.
