Bravo: N.C. Pickle Festival Committee deserves cheer for hard work

They make it look easy -- the hard workers who help put together the N.C. Pickle Festival each year.

But the number of pieces that have to fit together to make the weekend run smoothly is mind-boggling.

And although, of course, there were snags, just as there always will be, this year's Pickle Festival was a resounding success.

Full of family fun and plenty of things to see and do, the festival really had something for everyone, whether you wanted to take a ride on a camel or to run a 5K.

The performances from the local singers and dancers were inspiring and the competition to eat the Hwy 55 hamburger a blast to watch. And there was the competition to find a diamond in a wedding cake -- what more can you say?

It is great to see the N.C. Pickle Festival expanding and growing -- and credit for that goes to co-chairwomen Lynn Williams and Julie Beck and their dedicated band of volunteers.

They are keeping the festival fresh and making sure everyone has a good time.

And for that they deserve our thanks.
