First-ever: Beverly Carroll does inaugural Ollie Toomey award justice

You know someone deserves an honor when they are so sure someone else is going to get it that their shoes are off.

And that is exactly why it took Beverly Carroll so long to make it to the front to accept the inaugural Ollie Toomey Service Award at the Chamber of Commerce's annual banquet.

But even though she doesn't think so, she deserved it.

Mrs. Carroll has been there for the Chamber of Commerce through thick and thin, even serving a stint as acting executive director.

She is now working on other projects for the organization -- and succeeding there, too, with the grace and style that are her trademarks.

She exemplifies what it means to serve -- and is the perfect person to add her name to so prestigious an honor. She deserves our thanks and our congratulations.
