Holiday help: Annual party brings Christmas cheer to needy children

More than 600 children -- and that is just the part we are taking on this holiday season.

600 children without a gift under the tree.

600 children who will wonder on Christmas Day why Santa decided to pass them by.

600 children who will be as thrilled with the box of new clothes as they are with the toy that is tucked under their arm.

And more than 600 parents and guardians who had nowhere else to turn.

That is what the Empty Stocking Fund is really all about.

Every year we ask you to help us, to give a few dollars to help make a child's holiday special.

And every year we are shocked by just how generous you are and by just how much you care.

And we need you again this year.

The annual party for the county's needy children is a little more than a week away and we are fast-approaching the deadline to assemble the toys, clothes and goodies.

It is a labor of love, but we need help to make it happen.

And that is where you come in.

We take no administrative fees or anything else out of the funds -- all the money goes to the children.
