The show: Listen to the pitch, then ask yourself if you are better off.

President Barack Obama is about to start another magical mystery tour.

This time he is going to tell Americans how much better off they are today and how the economy is holding its own.

Well, he might be able to point to some good news, but the bottom line is this: Part-time jobs and nervous employers do not a healthy economy make.

It is still pretty expensive to run your car and to feed your family. And just ask any businessman or woman about what havoc the new health care law will bring.

So as the president presents his case, listen with interest and then look at your own situation.

Are you better off? Is your budget looser than it was just a couple of years ago? Are you happy with the trillions of dollars in debt?

Those are the questions we all need to ask to fully comprehend where we stand and what to do next.
