Exemptions: The rest of America should have right to sidestep Obamacare

There will soon need to be a new department in the federal government.

Perhaps the IRS could run it in its spare time.

We would need to call it the Exemptions Department.

Having one central place to go should make it easier for everyone and their brother with connections to the Obama administration or Congress itself to ask for a pass on having to follow the rules on Obamacare.

But don't get too excited -- no one from the general public need apply -- including all you 20-somethings out there who do not think you need health insurance and would rather not spend the money.

It is your duty to sign up for insurance you do not need or want so that others who need it can get theirs.

Those same rules do not apply to those -- like federal employees -- who have cadillac insurance plans they do not want to give up. Sacrifice is your duty, not theirs.

And that brings up an interesting question -- why shouldn't all of us be able to form a large unit and demand to be exempted from Obamacare?

All it would take is some organization, a list of names requesting the government stay out of their insurance and some way to enforce it.

And bingo -- we are free from Obamacare.

After all, what is good for the government and its cronies should be good for the rest of us, too, right?

Don't hold your breath.
